Are you looking to make some delicious dill pickles to snack on after coming home from work?
Well, you’re definitely in the right place!
This article will walk you through the only dill pickle recipe you’ll ever need and, fortunately for you, it’s only 5 steps! Let’s jump right into it, shall we?
Step 1: Collect The Ingredients
So, to make the perfect dill pickles you’ll need to get your hands on a few important ingredients. These are:
- Cucumbers…the pickling kind;
- Garlic;
- Dill;
- 2 cups of Vinegar;
- Water;
- 2 tbsp of Pickling salt;
- 1 tbsp Sugar (optional);
- Spices (Black peppercorns, mustard seeds, and coriander seeds).
Step 2: Prepare Your Cucumbers
If you’ve collected all the ingredients, it’s time to get to work!

First and foremost, prepare your pickling cucumbers by washing them and chopping off their stem ends. If you want smaller bite-sized pieces, you can cut your cucumbers into thin slices.
Step 3: Make Your Brine
To make your brine, put a large pot of water on the stove and add about 2 cups of vinegar, 2 tablespoons of pickling salt, and 1-2 tablespoons of sugar depending on whether you want some sweetness or not.

Step 4: Put Everything Together In A Jar

Take a rather large jar and add a few sprigs of dill, garlic as well as your desired spices into it.
Now, put your cucumbers into the jar and try your best to pack them tightly. Carefully pour your brine on top of the cucumbers until they’re fully submerged but make sure not to overfill.

Tightly seal the lid of the jar and check for spillage. If there is any, wipe the jar with a dry cloth and set it aside.
Step 5: Store In An Ideal Place
The ideal place to store your pickle jar would be a cool, dry place like a kitchen shelf. Do not, and I repeat…DO NOT freeze your dill pickles as they can lose their flavor and structural integrity, resulting in a mushy mess when thawed.

Refrigeration is fine as long as it’s short-term and you plan to consume the pickles within 1-2 months.
For the best flavor, allow the pickles to cure in the brine for a minimum of 1-2 weeks.
Final Words
So, there you go – the only dill pickle recipe you’ll ever need!
As complicated as pickle recipes have become today, there’s a special kind of joy in enjoying some simple dill pickles. Nothing fancy and no unique ingredients; just what works and tastes of comfort.

You can snack on these dill pickles straight from the jar as they are or add them to nachos, hotdogs, or crunchy salads to give the dishes an extra boost of tanginess.

Thank you for the recipe. Made them about a week ago , however my wife is concerned about the safety as they are not processed. Also do you refrigerate after opening?
Thank you
