- 1 cup of bread crumbs
- ½ cup of milk
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1 teaspoon of pepper
- 1 tablespoon of tomato sauce
- 1 chopped onions
- 2 pounds of ground lean beef
- 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
- 2 teaspoons of minced garlic
- 1 tablespoon of Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tablespoons of brown sugar
- ½ cup of ketchup
How to make Meatloaf
Several people make their meatloaf using different processes. But the one my grandmother taught me remains the best because of THIS UNIQUE strategy.
Before mixing the onions with the beef mixture, she fried the onions in a medium-heat oil. Doing this releases the flavor of the onions. And THIS is why my meatloafs are always full of flavors.
Keep that in mind!
Now, let me take you through the step-by-step process of how to make an incredibly tasty meatloaf for dinner.
- You need to be conscious of underheating and overheating. This is an important contributing factor to HOW your meatloaf turns out. For me, 400 degrees Fahrenheit is the perfect oven heat temperature for meatloaf.
- Your meatloaf pan should be sprayed with non-stick spray. This prevents your meatloaf from burning – thus losing its flavor.
- Get your ingredients together in a large bow. This keeps everything organized and easy.
- Mix all the ingredients. You can either use a spoon or your hands.
- Shape the mixture into a loaf shape and place it into your well-sprayed meatloaf pan.
- Your meatloaf sauce ingredients should be combined and boiled for a few minutes.
- Allow the boiled sauce to simmer for another 3 minutes.
- Pour half of it over the meatloaf in the pan.
- Bake the meatloaf for about 30 minutes.
- Take out the meatloaf from the oven, pour the remaining sauce on it and bake for an additional 30 minutes.
- Your meatloaf is ready.
It’s important to let your meatloaf cool off for a few minutes before serving it. During those few minutes, your meatloaf will absorb more juice from the ingredients – making it incredibly tasty.
