Easy Lemon Bars Recipe

Let’s discuss everything you need to know about “How to make lemon bars”. In this section, I will disclose the simple ingredients you should have plus the preparation process involved.
Ingredients (Makes 16 squares)
Here are the needed ingredients for easy lemon bars:
For the crust:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
For the lemon filling:
- 2 large eggs
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice (about 2 lemons)
- 1/2 tsp lemon zest
- Pinch of salt
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 175°C / 350°F.
- Line your baking pan with parchment paper. You can also lightly grease it.
- The next step is to make the crust, which is a simple process. Just mix the flour and sugar in a medium bowl. Then, cut in the butter until the mix forms a crumbly dough.
- Press the dough evenly into the bottom of the pan.
- Afterwards, bake the crust for 12-15 minutes. Ensure it is lightly golden at the edges.
- Make the filling in the same bowl for less cleanup time. Whisk together the eggs, sugar, flour, lemon juice, zest, and salt. Keep going until it forms a smooth mix.
- Pour this over the hot crust and bake for 15 minutes, or until the center is set and does not jiggle.
- After baking, let it cool completely before slicing.
- If you want, dust the bars with powdered sugar.
Some Important Tips To Follow

Here are some important tips you should follow. They are the simple yet effective hacks to make your lemon bars extra yummy and perfectly textured.
- Use fresh juice: Trust me, this makes all the difference. While the store-bought ones seem convenient and easy, you can’t compare them to the depth of flavor that comes with freshly squeezed juice.
- Don’t cut the bars while the dough is still hot: You might not achieve a clean slice. I wait for it to chill, which can take 10-15 minutes before cutting.
- Rather than an 8×8-inch pan, use a 9×13-inch pan: This helps you to make something large enough to feed a lot of mouths. Just double the recipe quantity.
- Avoid a metallic baking pan: It tastes in the bars. Rather, go for glass baking pans. They are perfect for the job. Ceramic also works fine.
